Local artist, Chris Newman (Noomz) wanted to celebrate some of our ‘locals,’ for the 2017 Rotorua Unison Power Box Awards.

From the inquisitive fantail to the admiring tourist, ‘The Vegas Bunch’ is an acknowledgement of our everyday neighbours represented as our version of ‘The Brady Bunch.’ 

Runner Up in the 2017 Rotorua Unison Power Box People’s Choice Award was Chris Newman, for his quirky take on Rotorua locals entitled The Vegas Bunch.

About the artist: Born and raised in Rotorua, Noomz has always “had a heart for art” as has his whole family. He and his sister Jessica feature on many of the Chorus boxes around town.

He began painting pictures of his friends cars and this progressed to pets, tattoo designs and then random imagery that popped into his head. Newman is a firm believer that cities should be galleries and that we can all draw.
