Calling all Rotorua musicians, songwriters, composers and lyricists! Te Manu Tito Waiata is a song writing competition taking place during Rotorua’s New Zealand Music Month celebrations.

Get creative, write a song and share your talent with the community to be in to win a prize of $1,000!

‘Te Manu Tito Waiata’ refers to the birds of the forest that sing the sweetest songs and tell melodious tales. To sing a sweet song though, one must write beautiful lyrics.

Entries must be received by Monday 25 May 2020 through our online entry form: https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/5578293/May-Music-Month-Song-Writing-Competition-2020-Entry-Form

The work must be an original song by an amateur songwriter, with lyrics suitable for a family audience. The writers must be a resident in the Rotorua District and not be employees (or immediate family members of employees) of Rotorua Lakes Council.

Judging will take place with the overall winner announced on Friday 29 May 2020.
